If you like living in the country side, go to Montana or something. I'm fully remote, and still choose to pay high rent.
I choose to live in a very expensive, large city on the east coast because I like living here. You don't even need high speed internet as a SWE if you don't want. I lived in California very briefly and hated it. but believe it or not, some people like living in California. Yes, California is expensive as hell to live in. One person's paradise is another person's hell. Everyone has different preferences in life. I say that the best location to work remotely is the location you enjoy living in the most. We could always do with more help and wisdom, friend! The better the FAQ, the harder we can come down on lazy posters with low-effort OPs, which means a higher quality subreddit experience for you.
